"Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." -John Lennon

Ever since I could remember I have alway carried a book with me everywhere I go.  The one item that I like to collect is books.  My love for reading and writing has turned into a passion for teaching English and sharing the joy of escaping the world through a book and relinquishing all emotions through writing.

I grew up in Eastpointe, Michigan.  When I was thirteen is when I was moved out of the suburbs of Detroit and into a small farming community, St. Clair, Michigan.  St. Clair is where my three brothers, mom, dad and dog live.  It is a beautiful town that is located right on the St. Clair river and overlooks Sarnia, Ontario!  It has the worlds largest freshwater boardwalk and is truly a beautiful town to finish my teen years in.  Moving to St. Clair changed my entire life for the best because it pushed me to pursue a career in education and to pursue my love for music.

My family is my biggest inspiration and motivation regarding school and everything else in my life.  One of my biggest role models is my Papa, Herbert Bruning.  He is the sweetest, smartest and most admirable man I've ever met in my entire life.  He has always encouraged me to be strong-willed, outspoken and to never settle for less than my best and to remember God's enduring love and how to be a Christian.  My mom's parents have also been terrific role models for me.  They were always willing to spend  a lot of time with me growing up and truly expressed the importance of being outspoken and the importance of receiving a quality education.  My two brothers and parents still reside in St. Clair.  My youngest brother, Benjamin is a senior at St. Clair High School where he is currently pursuing a career in the United States Army while focusing his studies as an Automotive Technician.  My other brother, Joshua is currently attending a community college and after much deliberation he has decided to focus his studies on medicine in order to become a family physician.  I have one set of grandparents that currently live in Presque Isle, Michigan where my Grammy works on her paintings of wildlife and nature.  I also have another set of grandparents that have retired to Davenport, Florida where they currently work at Universal Studios.

Another passion of mine is music.  I have been playing clarinet for the last 13 years and alto saxophone for 8 years.  Throughout this time I have given lessons on both instruments and have played with numerous bands across the state.  My favorite genre of music to play is jazz.  To me jazz allows me to escape and to release all my emotions through improvisation.  Music is a large part of my life that I love to share with everyone around me.  Music is something that I hope to bring into the classroom and use through teaching writing.
